Arrested by CBI Vijay Nair has nothing to do with Delhi Excise Policy case: AAP

“He was pressurized to take the name of Manish Sisodia which he refused”

New Delhi, Sept. 27 (Delhi Crown): The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday said that Vijay Nair, the party’s Communication In-charge, has nothing to do with the Delhi Excise Policy case, and that the CBI arrested him as a part of ongoing BJP’s attempt to crush AAP and obstruct its political campaign in Gujarat.

Interestingly, just minutes after Nair’s arrest senior leaders of the BJP’s Delhi unit began posting comments on social media saying Nair was “directly connected” with Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy CM Manish Sisodia in the “corruption” in the Delhi Excise Case.

BJP leader and Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Ramesh Bidhuri tweeted – “शराब घोटाले में विजय नायर की गिरफ़्तारी! विजय नायर के तार मनीष सिसोदिया से लेकर CM केजरीवाल तक जुड़ते हैं। दिल्ली को लूटने वालों को बख्शा नही जाएगा! दिल्ली के साथ धोखा करने वालों का अंत निश्चित है!”

Clarifying its stand on Nair’s arrest on Tuesday evening, the AAP released a statement to the media saying – “Vijay Nair is Communication In-charge of AAP. He was responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies in Punjab earlier, and Gujarat now. He has nothing to do with excise policy. Strangely, he has been arrested by CBI just now in the excise case.”

The statement added – “Vijay Nair was called for questioning last few days and was pressurised to take the name of Manish Sisodia. When he refused to do that, he was threatened that he would be arrested. His house was raided twice in last one month, but nothing was found.”

“This is a part of ongoing BJP’s attempt to crush AAP and obstruct AAP’s Gujarat campaign. The whole country is watching how BJP is completely rattled by AAP’s growing popularity across India. BJP is unable to digest rapidly growing vote share of AAP in Gujarat. We strongly condemn these unconstitutional and illegal methods being adopted by BJP. All allegations against Vijay Nair and AAP leaders are false and completely baseless,” the AAP statement said further.
