Sea of people seen on the streets & on rooftops in Rampur today

Rampur (Uttar Pradesh), Feb. 11 (Delhi Crown): Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav continues to draw huge crowds in his election campaigns in the ongoing Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

Today Akhilesh was in Rampur area, a known bastion of his party’s senior leader Azam Khan who is currently in jail.

As Akhilesh emerged from the rooftop of his election-bus, scores of people shouted slogans “Akhilesh Bhaiyya Zindabad Zindabad”. People were seen standing on rooftops waving at Akhilesh and showing victory signs.

Addressing the crowd from his bus-top, Akhilesh said – “The first phase held yesterday has shown that the BJP is facing a rout in these elections. People have rejected the BJP after its five years of misrule. A Samajwadi Party government will be formed next month after results are out on March 10”.

A total of 58 Assembly segments in Western U.P. went to polls on Thursday which saw a voter turnout of around 61%. The second phase of polling is scheduled for February 14 (Monday) for which election campaign will end tomorrow.
