AAP’s Delhi unit alleges BJP leaders are “hands-in-glove” with land mafia
Will file FIRs against BJP leaders over illegal building that collapsed injuring 7
New Delhi, March 15 (Delhi Crown): The Delhi unit of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday stated that it’s going to file FIRs against Delhi BJP leaders for being “hands-in-glove” with the land mafia in the national capital.
The party said that its public representatives had repeatedly written letters messages on phone to MCD Commissioner, the Mayor and all concerned authorities regarding the illegal construction of a 3-storey building in Kashmere Gate which had collapsed on Monday injuring seven persons, but to no avail.
AAP incharge for forthcoming MCD polls Durgesh Pathak said that building collapse in Kashmere Gate occurred due to the “joint negligence and conspiracy” of Delhi BJP leaders and the builder mafia.
“BJP leaders fraudulently got the map of a 180 sq. yard building approved under the SARAL Scheme by showing it as 80 sq yards. The SARAL Scheme applies only to buildings up to a total area of 100 sq yards. AAP will file FIRs against BJP councillors, Mayor & State President and demand strictest punishment for them,” said Pathak while addressing media persons on Tuesday.
He added – “It is a well-known fact that BJP’s lust for money knows no bounds. But now their greed has gone as far as endangering people’s lives.”
Pathak was accompanied by AAP’s North MCD LoP Vikas Goel, who said, “I am certain that once this matter is investigated the links of the builder with the BJP leaders will be exposed.”
Pathak said that his party MLA from Chandni Chowk Prahlad Singh Sawhney wrote a letter December 21 regarding the illegal construction of this building to the Commissioner, the Mayor and all concerned authorities, stating that the project is taking place in violation of MCD’s rules and regulations.
Sawhney had also demanded that action must be taken against the illegal activity, and a legitimate path must be taken in order for the construction to take place properly.
Moreover, the AAP MLA also sent a WhatsApp message to the local MCD Commissioner on Dec. 8 and again on the following – both of which did not receive a response from the MCD Commissioner despite being “read”.
Following that, this year Prahlad Sawhney wrote two more letters dated Feb 8 and 9 sharing all the details of the illegalities of the construction project. “Not just this, he even wrote a letter to the LG on 9th February intimating him with the facts and figures, and warnings that this illegitimate construction can pose a threat to lives of people working and living in the area,” said AAP leader.
Pathak alleged – “The BJP Mayor and Councillors were aware of the illegal construction. Now the question arises as to why did they not act against it? The simplest conclusion would be that their lust for money did not let them do so. They took bribes and shut their eyes.”
