AAP attacks Delhi BJP over Rs 13,000 crore MCD funds

Says BJP had promised “direct funds from Centre” ahead of 2017 MCD polls

New Delhi, Jan. 7 (Delhi Crown): The Delhi unit of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has launched a scathing attack on the Delhi BJP over the funds’ allocation for the three MCDs.

The BJP-ruled MCDs have time and again alleged that Rs 13,000 crores were due from the Delhi Government, saying the latter had failed pay them so far. A few days ago, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had also attacked the Kejriwal government for non-payment of Rs 13,000 crore to MCDs.

Addressing press persons, AAP leader and MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj from Greater Kailash said that in the run up to the 2017 MCD polls the BJP had promised to the people of Delhi that it will ensure direct funds from the Centre Government for the MCDs “which has not happened till date”.

The AAP MLA alleged that over the past five years the BJP has been ruling the country and also the three MCDs, “but the local bodies in Delhi couldn’t get even a single Rupee from the Centre Government because the Union government is well aware that the MCDs are grossly corrupt”.

Bhardwaj further alleged that the Delhi BJP had also claimed in the run up to the 2017 MCD polls that it had “changed” all its MCD Councillors who were “corrupt”.

“This also had not happened, and all the three MCDs run and government by the BJP continue to be most corrupt,” added the AAP leader. MCD polls are due to be held in a couple of months from now, though election schedule hasn’t been announced yet.
